Never one rid of controversy, Miami-born rapper Trick Daddy sat down with New York infamous morning show, The Breakfast Club, on November 10, 2015. Talking about everything from his views on taboo sexual subjects to the graphic nature of his music, Trick discussed his philanthropic efforts as well.
“I raised all my nieces and nephews. I take care of my mama, I take care of my hood, I do the ‘Trick Love the Kids Foundation’…. I’m not gon’ be like Oprah, I’m not going to Africa to build no girl’s school because we need schools here, especially in Chicago where she made all them billions at.”
His comments become very interesting at 19:30 into the interview where he tells the hosts
“Africa is one of the richest continents in the world! Why would I take my money into Africa….there’s some black kids that I know in my ghettos in Miama that’s never gon’ leave Miami unless they on the Blue Bird going to prison.”
Many Black Americans have shared the exact same sentiments. With some of our communities in turmoil right here at home, does Trick Daddy have a point?
