Ever heard the saying “Go BIG or GO HOME”? This National Hockey League star took the saying to heart and went BIG, $10,000,000 BIG in the form of a donation.

The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation will receive $10 million dollars over the  next seven years thanks to P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens. His donation will ensure families struggling with the financial reality of caring for their children won’t have to worry, a much needed stress relief for families in need.

One of the most hated players in the NHL (we wonder why) as voted in 2013 by Sports Illustrated, Saban isn’t allowing the haters to change the way he wants to help the world. The donation will definitely change this for those impacted by the generous donation, but we are sure this wasn’t his motivation.

The 26 year old hockey sensation signed a $72 million dollar contract with the Canadians.

[ADSENSE2]As a show of gratitude, the hospital’s atrium will now sport his name.

“As I was walking out of the back room, I noticed the P.K. Subban lettering up there and I got goosebumps,” Subban said, CBC News reports.

“It’s not too many times I get goosebumps in what I do, playing hockey for a very long time in front of a lot of people. That’s probably the only time I got goosebumps in a long time,” he said.

The hospital called the donation “the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history,” according to CBC News.

Greg Rokos, chair of the board of directors of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, said the donation was like “Christmas in September,” CBC News reports.
