The story of Will and Jada Smith donating to Minister Louis Farrakhan’s 20th anniversary of the Million Man March with their Justice or Else! movement later this year has been slurred by the right wing media and so called conservatives.
Philly.com reported last week, Farrakhan spoke at Tindley Temple United Methodist Church in Philadelphia and reported the Smith’s donated $150,000 to the October 10th anniversary of the historic march. A gesture of good faith and belief the effort to march, fight and stand up for the rights of black people in America is a worthy one.
Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam have been very active in the righting of America’s wrongs in this country and fighting to get the black community to do more for our future.
However, everyone doesn’t see the efforts of Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam as a good thing. In fact, right wing, white “conservatives” see him as a threat and get this….a terrorist every bit as bad as the Klu Klux Klan in their words.
One of UI”s Facebook admins, UI Unchained, expressed his disbelief in this manner by saying, “This is how you’re portrayed when you donate to NOI, Farrakhan or Black empowerment movements. See how easy it is. Will Smith is the quintessential “non-threatening negro”, right?
Wrong. Everyone’s a threat to these folk. And we argue over whether or not a person is ‘down’ or ‘real’. They don’t care either way. Male Female, young old, light-skinned dark skinned, conscious ignorant, conservative or democrat. You are Black and you had better stay in your place.
White Conservatives, what do you expect?”
One of the lying, grossly misinformed media outlets is the so-called American Freedom Fighters. Here are some of outrageous gems from their article and interpretation of Farrakhan, the NOI and Will Smith.
- The “Nation of Islam,” a chapter of the Black Panthers, …….
- This is such a HUGE disappointment to see. Will, I thought you were better than this. How could you turn on America and support Islam?
- Louis Farrakhan is just as racist as any KKK member. I’ll be damned if you’re going to fight fire with fire and think you deserve to win any debate. I’m willing to help good people seek justice and fairness, BUT I have no desire at all to help out this loudmouth, angry, vengeful racist who calls others racist from the hilltop!
- Nation of Islam has not only the evil of Islam, but also the racism of Farrakhan and his ilk. The worst of two worlds. For someone that has made all his money out of the pockets of hard working Americans and then turn around and donate to one of the most racist factions on the planet, that is enough for me to say he is no better than the black panthers he is supporting. Sorry, Will, but choices have consequences.

It’s true not all the filth spilled by right wing, racist conservatives shouldn’t be addressed. However, to say the NOI is a chapter of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense is ridiculous. Then, to imply there is something wrong with a people wanting to protect themselves against a government that won’t and a people that are racist and attacking them is just as much ridiculous.
Comparing Farrakhan to the KKK is ludicris. His words might be strong and you might not like him, but there is ZERO blood on the hands of Farrakhan and the NOI, unlike the KKK who is a clear terrorist group in every sense of the word….and the ridiculousness continues from there.
Unbelieveable, yet, we as African Americans in this country shouldn’t be in the least bit surprised by this madness and unfound rhetoric. What’s sad is so many white, so called conservatives will eat this madness us and believe every bit of it because deep down they are seeking any reason to hate the melanated black man. And this BS just adds more fuel to their racist fire.
SOUND OFF: What do you think of the right wing, conservatives calling Will Smith a terrorist supporter?
