Everyone loves Idris Elba, right? Well, all the ladies we know do at the very least, but his talents, charisma and stage presence doesn’t do it for everyone. And by everyone, we mean Anthony Horowitz.
Horowitz is the latest author in the Bond series. He penned the newest edition to the series called “Trigger Mortis”. The movie is coming but isn’t in casting currently. However, Horowitz sad down with the Daily Mail for an interview recently to discuss the book, the movie franchise and more, but said Elba was “a bit too rough to play the part.”
For some time now, there has been rumors that Idris Elba would be the next James Bond. Not sure where the rumors came from, if they are true, or just what people want to see, but obviously the author isn’t thrilled with the idea.
“Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better,” he said, suggesting Adrian Lester as an alternative.

“For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
Horowitz eventually tried to do retract his statement and do some PR control after the fall out over his comments. He apologized and said it wasn’t his intention to speak negatively of Elba and mentioned he does enjoy his work.
Idris took the high road, as expected, when reacting to the comments of him being “too street” to play James Bond. Posting on his Instagram page, he said, ““Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!!.”
