Inspired by a trip to Meg’s field as a child, Tammera Holmes was set on a path to change the world of our young people by helping and encouraging them to take flight. Not just taking their education to the next level, but also themselves physically.
The field trip Holmes recalled was when she was just 16 years old. It was sponsored by the EAA Young Eagles rally in conjunction with the Chicago “DODO” Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen. Holmes got to see, meet and fly with these fabulous men at a very young and impressionable age.
“The pilot who took me up asked me if I’d like to fly the plane” recalls Tammera. “Without hesitation, I said ‘Absolutley!’ He gave me they controls, and as I was flying over Lake Michigan looking at the beautiful skyline of Chicago, I decided that aviation would be a part of my life from that day forward.”
It was this chance encounter that sparked Holmes to start her AeroStar Consulting Corporation over a decade and a half later. First she had to build up her credentials and that’s exactly what she did.
She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL as an aviation major, specifically aviation management. Obviously, she was taking flight lessons, but also taking courses in aviation management as well. She interned in aviation management with United Airlines and the Chicago Department of Aviation, learning the business side of the industry.

After a few years in the industry learning the ropes, in 2008 Holmes decided it was time to bring her background experience and passion for the youth to reality and launched AeroStar Consulting Corporation.

Her company was featured this past week on ABC News for the outstanding work she has done and the energy she has put into our young people encouraging them to take flight!
