You be the judge, but the fact is if you don’t own media companies, then you don’t control the messages. Something we’ve preached a million times around here. (SN: Support black owned media outlets.)

The Today Show is suspected in censoring Janelle Monae as she wrapped up her performance on the long running series. Ending the live performance, Monae spoke out about police brutality mentioning the white community, then the black community.

However, as soon as she mentions the black community, one of the commentators begin to talk over her. They seemed prepared to cut and go to commercial, but you be the judge.

Monae has a history of speaking about issues in this country as it pertains to the black community, one of the reasons we love her.

Many are reporting The Today Show doesn’t have footage of this performance on their website. Thankfully someone on Twitter posted the video and we have it available for you.

SOUND OFF: Do you think The Today Show attempted to censor Monae?
