Don’t Judge: Hurt People Hurt People

“I came to the realization that I’m nothing. I’m insecure and I cling to my popularity around the school and the city to feel validated. I’m dictated and controlled by how people view me. Then, on top of that, I found out Tuck is cheating on me for that thot Markesia. I tried to be loyal to him and I was but I still got beat out by a girl slinging her thing like nobody’s business. I feel like I’m worthless. I feel like I’m living a lie.”

-Brianna Briggs, “A Point Of Life”

Last year I made the article A Battle For Your Soul in response to the news that one of my favorite up-and-coming actors Simone Battle tragically committed suicide reportedly in frustration on her stagnation of success in the entertainment industry. Her death resonated to me because she was so beautiful. How could such a gorgeous, talented young woman be so discontent with her life that she chooses kill herself? This situation proved to me that many people don’t look like what they’ve been through and even the people we feel have it all together on the outside battle with their own problems, insecurities and demons behind closed doors.

But there’s another type of person we unintentionally look over. What do we perceive of the individuals that visibly wear their insecurities on their sleeves? If we see someone that isn’t living the way we feel is fit we ridicule them, often times not even caring to dive into why they behave the ways they do. In the sequel to the story A Point of Light I tackled the viewpoint of one of the most ridiculed personalities in modern day society, the sexually promiscuous woman. Or, as we like to say, the thots and hoes of the world.

Markesia Young at first glance seems to be a horrible, heartless person that preys on the weak but there’s an extra dimension to her character. Is she really the villain or a product of the circumstances of her life? I explored the character of the young woman with built up resentment from her home life with Jakiyah Lewis in The Diary of Aaliyah Anderson. Now, in Hurt People, I take on this character type once again.

Markesia Young

So, I heard my li’l’ fling with westside Tuck got ol’ girl Brianna Briggs all bent out of shape. Hey, what can I say? That’s just how the game goes! These bougie, wanna be Christian girls don’t really understand how to satisfy their man. These conceited females think that holding out is the right way to go. They’re a special kind of stupid! They’ll learn eventually though. If they don’t, females like me will keep stealing their guys and breaking up their relationships.

Honey, I don’t have any shame in my game! Why should I? I got these boys around Hillman, and Willowfield for that matter, wrapped around my fingers like li’l’ puppets. They give me money and do whatever I want them to do because I let them smash and make sure that the ride is something that they enjoy. Who cares about what their girlfriends think? If they were handling business, their man wouldn’t have stepped to me anyway.

Momma taught me everything I need to know about landing and controlling a man using our bodies. She should know, since she has a new man paying the bills every month. It’s not like my dad left us with anything. It’s whatever though. I’m not about to make the same mistake that Momma did with that punk. When I set my sights on a fine boy, single or taken, I intend to captivate all of his attention and take him for what he’s worth.

It’s not hard either. This curvy body and big ol’ butt keeps them coming steadily, trying to live out their fantasy of getting with Nicki Minaj or whatever other big booty star they see on the internet. I dress in a way that leaves their li’l imaginations going crazy. A lot of my haters say that I dress like a thot. I let them talk that. Like I said, there’s no shame in my game! If anything, I’m an upscale thot. An entrepreneur in a way. Their boyfriends make sure that I stay in the flyest clothes. They take those checks from their li’l’ minimum wage restaurant and grocery store jobs and buy me all kind of expensive stuff to keep me quiet. Especially those dope boys hanging on the block thinking they Big Meech or something. They know I can get that plug cut off!

One thing I hate is when these girls try to step to me over their thot boyfriends. They just need to accept that the best woman won! It ain’t nothing against them. It’s just that these boys ain’t loyal and they choose to break their commitments with me. Brianna Briggs decided to step off her ‘pedestal’ and step to me about her on-the-low dope boy bae Tuck. She didn’t know that he’s everybody’s man? She really tried to kill herself over him?

Yeah, I heard about that. Allan’s cute, brown skin self saved her from being a permanent part of the sidewalk. That girl is pathetic! Tuck was so easy to pull. He told me what her problem was when he stepped to me a couple months ago at the end of the school day.

I said, “Why are you even over here? Don’t you go with Brianna Briggs? According to you boys, she’s the baddest thing walking.”

teenage-couple-busHe replied, with a huge smile on his face, “Hey, she cool and all but she ain’t trying to let me hit. You know how that is. Besides, I’ve had my eyes on you for a while. You know you’re really the finest female around here. Brianna’s alright and all but she don’t have a body like you. She to li’l’ for me to keep it real.”

I rolled my eyes and smiled. These boys will say whatever to talk the pants off of a girl. I’m not the average jump-off though.

“That’s nice and all but what are you going to do for me? The last thing I am is a cheap hoe. For the right price, I’ll show you a good time. If not, you can go back to Brianna and wait until you two get married before you get some.”

He laughed and rubbed his hands together, “Boy, that’s straight dead! You know I got you. Money ain’t a problem, especially if you keep this on the low. I’m not trying to knock your hustle. ”

I grinned, “Ok, I like the sound of that. We can do something then….”

What I do folks my consider dirty but I don’t run my mouth about the guys I get with. Well, unless I need to. Nevertheless, folks found out about my friends with benefits relationship with Tuck. It spread around the school and his perfect li’l cheerleading captain was on the verge of killing herself.

She must have had a death wish coming up to me trying to start something. She just needs to accept that her thing with Tuck is through. It ain’t nothing for her to kill herself over. I gotta catch another one with her because she caught me off guard at school today. That girl knew she’d be running into trouble if she tried to square up with me! That’s why she had to steal off and have her girls jump on me!

She ran up on me at lunch trying to chump. I was sitting down by myself eating and she stomped up with two of the members of her li’l squad,

I looked up at her and rolled my eyes, “What do you want?”

She was shaking with anger. “I’ve gotten about tired of you. You always trying to talk to someone’s boyfriend. What’s your problem with wrecking people’s relationships?”

I chuckled. “Hey, I can’t wreck what’s not stable in the first place. Remember that when you want to play the virgin role. That’s all Tuck wanted from you truth be told.”

She walked up on me and said, “I know you didn’t just say that!”

Not threatened in the slightest, I said, “What, you’re mad at me for telling the truth? Tuck told me himself that he just wanted to smash you. The whole school knew that Tuck never loved you! I guess you aren’t as smart as everybody makes you out to be.”

I guess I struck a nerve with her because she immediately swung on me and knocked me out my chair. I tried to get hqdefaultup but she grabbed me by my weave and threw me onto the table and started punching me in the face. A crowd of folks excited to see a fight instantly surrounded us. I pushed her off and threw a sloppy punch that didn’t even hit her because my eyesight was all messed up.

She kept pulling on my weave and punching me but I started eating all those hits. I grabbed her by her jean jacket, which she stupidly still had on. I was hammering on her stomach hard. This girl obviously doesn’t know that you’re supposed to take off all your loose clothes before you fight or they’ll be used as weapons. That’s how I knew she couldn’t hit! If we really squared up one-on-one, I would’ve done her wrong!

I was about to trip her up and get her on the floor but that’s when her friends jumped in. One of them kicked me in the back of my leg and I fell to the floor. Then, they all started stomping and kicking me until some campus police officers and a few teachers broke things up. My weave was all messed up and I was bleeding from my mouth. Folks were happy to see me “finally get what I had coming to me”. I don’t even care.

I believe in karma but there’s no reason that it should be bad on me. I wasn’t the one that started all of this. Her boyfriend was choosing after all. The way I see it, all these guys are dogs. Why can’t females play the field too? I’m going to get Brianna back for this if it’s the last thing I do! She best to watch her back…
