As a black man in America, the first thing that comes to mind is he is alive. The person who walked in and killed nine black church goers is alive to tell his story when so many of us are dead without a weapon or threat to the police.

Nevertheless, a known killer of black people is off the streets today and everyone in South Carolina and bordering states can rest a bit easier as this psychopath has been caught.

The shooter’s name is Dylan Storm Roof. The 21 year old who walked into the South Carolina AME Church and killed nine people during bible study class was arrested in Shelby, N.C. today about 250 miles from Charleston.

Investigators say police stopped Roof at Interstate 74 and Plato Lee Road, west of Shelby, following a tip from the public. A citizen reported a suspicious vehicle. WSOC reported that Roof also had used an ATM on Providence Road in Charlotte.

“He was cooperative with the officer who stopped him,” officials said during a press conference.

Roof was a quiet person got a gun for his 21st birthday in April, his uncle told theNew York Daily News.

His uncle Carson Cowles, who described his nephew as a shy person who kept to himself, said he was appalled by his nephew’s alleged crimes.

“He’s a monster, and they need to catch him, and he needs to pay for what he’s done,” he said prior to Roof’s capture.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said, in tears, “We woke up this morning and the heart and soul of South Carolina was broken.”

It is being reported that he has said he went to the church to kill black people. At this point in time, there is no word on why he wanted to do such an horrific thing, but he has been caught.
