I know this is going to get me in a lot of trouble with some women, but I don’t care. Hopefully, the one that matters, my wife, won’t be too upset over my OPINION, but it is what it is.
First of all, let me say that i’m not a controlling kind of man that feels like women must do any and everything their man or husband says. That isn’t in my DNA at all. I have mad respect for women, their plight, struggles, successes and minds. Yes, I love my mother as well. She is a black woman!
Second of all, i’m not a jealous guy, at all. I believe my wife looks great when she is covered up and know men (and some women) are going to hit on her no matter what. We have been married close to 14 years and it comes with the territory of marrying a beautiful person. That’s the struggle I chose. 🙂
My basic point of contention is that it is inappropriate for a wife, mother and role model in the community to dress in this fashion. Knowing all the little children look up to you and admire any and everything you do is a great responsibility to carry and this isn’t the image I would think one would want to project….well, not my wife.
But my greatest gripe is I wouldn’t want my children to see my wife out dressed
But my greatest gripe is I wouldn’t want my children to see my wife out dressed in such a revealing way to give them the impression that this is the sort of woman they should go after. Or that this is the sort of outfit the future mother of my grandchildren should wear on an occasion.
Granted, Beyonce lives in a different world and this was the Met Gala. A world of entertainment, fantasy, and dreams, so maybe this dress applies and works for her and her husband, Jay Z. However, it just won’t work for me and i’m big enough or old fashion enough to say it.
And to denounce what many might think I object to my wife showing any skin, I just don’t think this is an appropriate place for it. My wife has competed in a figure competition, between body building and swim suit model, where she was in a bathing suit on stage for the competition in front of a theater full of people.
This is an appropriate time to show some skin, can’t hide those muscles during the competition. (Fyi, she did an amazing job working on her body and took second place in her first competition. I thought she should have won, but i’m biased.) And yes, our children were there to support her and saw her in her bathing suit, but again, this is a time I deem this apparel and amount of skin showing to be acceptable.
