For decades, we have heard stories of the dead beat dad who has abandoned their family and won’t do right by their kids. Has anyone ever wondered about dead beat moms who won’t allow the fathers to see their children?
An old law is being revisited by a politicians in the United Kingdom that just might put some pressure on the United State judicial system to change some laws and protect father’s rights a little bit better.
According to the Daily Mail out of the UK, separated parents who don’t allow the other parent and children to maintain a proper relationship could be stripped of driving licenses, passports, hit with curfews, fined or even jailed.
There is a major concern in the UK, and among many in the United States, that millions of children are losing touch and contact with fathers who are absent in the home. The historical stance of “it’s the fathers fault” is being reconsidered as there is a shake up in the family courts to move more towards “shared parenting”.
This is something that has been long desired in the United States, particularly among fathers.
The move in the UK to do something about mothers who refuse to allow the father’s of their children to see the children comes in light of some concerning evidence. It shows that one in five children from a broken home loses touch with the parent that leaves within just three years, in the UK. One can only wonder what these figures look like in the United States and the black community.
Will this reform be made in the United States?
There seems to be a clear distrust and frustration with the family court system in the United States and inside of the black community, particularly among black men. However, there is no doubt the status quo will remain in place if people don’t start coming together to do something about it.
By following the lead of those in the UK to start banning together for Father’s Rights, a change to the legal system might be possible for fathers and disjointed parents of all genders, races and locations.
