The black community is tremendous at pointing out the issues and problems we face. Many believe we are just content to bark out our dark side, but reluctant to stand and fight to make a change in our communities. I’m not sure which side of the coin you fall, but hope you are willing to start rolling up your sleeves to do something to make a difference.
UI is a platform for people to start getting involved and making a difference. Today, we want to present you with a small way you can do just that.
Economic independence is critical for the black community if we plan to survive and thrive in the world of capitalism. Therefore, we must start working together with our money. One way to do this is to ensure we have a strong banking system. In order for this to work, we need strong black owned banks in this country and internationally. We must support these banks.
We are issuing the $100 Black Bank Savings Challenge.
Here is how it works:
-
Find a black bank.
-
Open a savings account with $100 dollars
-
Challenge your friends and family.
Don’t know any black owned banks or financial institutions, here is a list of 21 black or African American owned banks in the United States.
This is a simple challenge to set the foundation for saving in your family for your future, but for getting people aware of, involved and banking with black owned banks.
