Today, we found out the first patient diagnosed with Ebola in the United States has died. Thomas Duncan was admitted for the Ebola virus on Sept 30th, 2014, to the Health Presbyterian Hospital and died Oct. 8th, 2014.

Death by Ebola is the expected outcome for those who do not receive proper treatment. This has been made apparent by the large numbers of people who are being killed by the deadly Ebola virus in West Africa. Over 1,600 people have been identified with Ebola in West Africa. over 700 of those people have died.

However, two white Americans came down with the Ebola virus in Liberia, but they were administered an experimental drug called ZMapp. At the time, the drug had only been tried on primates and never an human being. However, the outcome was favorable because the two white Americans were cured of the deadly virus.

A third person, Patrick Sawyer,  was with those two white Americans. Sawyer, a naturalized American from Liberia wasn’t given the drug ZMapp and died in a Nigerian hospital.

It was first reported Mr. Duncan wasn’t receiving any treatment for his Ebola virus. This was reported by ABC News as they were reporting on the news out of the CDC, Center for Disease Control. However, it came out this past weekend that Mr. Duncan did receive experimental drugs on Saturday, but it wasn’t the ZMapp given to the two white, American Ebola survivors.

“He is now receiving an investigational medication, brincidofovir, for Ebola Virus Disease,” hospital spokeswoman Candace White said in a tweet Monday, later adding in a statement that he had been getting the drug since 2:14 p.m. on Saturday. – Source: ABCNews

Brincidofoyir isn’t ZMapp, is it?

Are the dosages of ZMapp being saved for white, American Ebola patients only?
