There is no question that the black community is one of the biggest spending community in the United States. With over a trillion dollars being spent each year, how do we leverage this spending power? So many people come in our neighborhoods, take our money, and do not do anything to deserve it. The Chinese owns most of chinatown in the major cities, the Greeks own most of greektown in the major cities, and yet they all have businesses in the black communities while we have none in theirs. At what point does the black community realize this as a whole? Here are five questions that need to be asked before spending a dime with any company in our community.
1. Was the product available in my neighborhood?
2. Does the manufacturer hire people that look like me?
3. Do I see positive images of myself reflected by the company?
4. Does the company support causes important to my community?
5. Am I still willing to spend my money with this company?
If we want economic power, we are going to have to demand with our unity. If we boycott the stores that don’t help our community, then their a$$e$ will soon leave.
