Hitler’s disgusting regime was responsible for the deaths of at least 6 million jews during WWII and his horrible footprint will forever be in history. You’d think if someone killed a similar amount of people they would also hold a place just as solid and vile. But what about 10 million? Well…. there is a man, a king, who was responsible for a genocide killing 10 million people in the Congo, and he is a mere footnote in history, practically invisible.

This vile man was King Leopold II of Belgium.

His empire was huge, a huge cruel and terrible empire, rivalling or worse than most dictatorships we have witnessed in living history.

This imperialistic colonial empire enslaved peoples, African peoples and committed genocide on a vast scale.

He ruled from 1865 as a kind democratic leader at home in Belgium, he was liked a lot! Under the banner of philantrophy and science he increased his hold, his business and ran work camps, torture with a private army.

The so called “Congo Free State” was controlled by him, he enslaved the people.

He ran the world’s largest plantation there, 76 times the size of Belgium. It’s rich lands ripe for the stealing.

This plantation, country, work camp, slave hell-hole, torture house, ran under the banner of Christianity led to the genocide of 10 million people.

Yet, we don’t see his name anywhere related to the terror he committed. It wasn’t a white problem, and therefore not of historical importance!

The victims are all but forgotten in the west but the scars are worn deep in the region where he destroyed families and lives forever.
