I swore I wasn’t going to write about this, but the MADNESS MUST BE SILENCED. It is my duty to do just that and remarkably, it isn’t that difficult to do. All you have to do is see the clip of Super Bowl bound Richard Sherman and bum, Michael Crabtree completely.
Like life, if you only see a portion of something, it is easy to get things twisted and out of context. This is what happened with the clip of Richard Sherman ranting in front of Erin Andrews during the post game interview after the NFC Championship match up in Seattle last Sunday.
First Up: Why Richard Sherman is a Hero
The full clip is shown below, but I want to run through my quick list of why Sherman is a hero and Crabtree is a bum. Let’s jump right into it. This will be quick.
1. Sherman graduated #2 in his high school class.
2. Sherman got a 1400 out of 1600 on his SAT out of high school.
3. Sherman has a degree in communications from Stanford University.
4. Sherman is working on his Masters degree at the tender age of 24 and a full time career.
5. Sherman is the best corner in the NFL. Stats don’t lie. Period.
6. Sherman is one of the hardest workers in his craft in the NFL.
7. Sherman is a pro bowler that is headed to the Super Bowl.
8. Sherman is a heavy philanthropist.
9. Sherman is a grown man, athlete with no legal or drug troubles off the field.
10. Sherman is articulate, intelligent, and poised.
11. Crabtree isn’t Sherman because he is a poor sport that got OWNED on the last play of the game.
Watch the video below and you tell me who should be slaughtered in the media because of their actions and attitude?
Here is a newsflash America. If you stick a microphone in the face of a gladiator 2 minutes after he makes the BIGGEST PLAY OF THE YEAR to win an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl, you are going to get raw emotion.
But did you notice following the play, Sherman told Crabtree good game, and what did Crabtree do? He muffed Sherman. And you think i’m suppose to be upset with Sherman? STOP IT!
This guy is poised, collected, a professional, intelligent, articulate, great at his craft, doesn’t get into trouble, and gives back to communities across the country with his philanthropy. If that isn’t a role model for the young black youth, you must be SICK IN THE HEAD!
Does he flap at the mouth a bit much, sure, but you tell me which ones of the GREAT ONES didn’t? They say Michael Jordan was notorious for talking about people Mothers on the court as he demoralized his opponents. Muhammad Ali, whom all of you act like you love, told you flat out he was the GREATEST OF ALL TIME. And even Dion Sanders, Prime Time, let you know there was no one like him that ever lived.
Did I just put Richard Sherman in that category of the great ones? I SURE DID, but admit it is longevity that made this list above the real deal. Sherman still has to prove himself over time to stay in this category. But it is clear he has the talent to be on this list.
