Tia Norfleet – NASCAR’s ONLY African American Female!

Women are very low in NASCAR but add African American to that tag and there is only one! That one is Tia Norfleet, daughter of legendary driver Bobby Norfleet.

Tia started in gokarting and reportedly was able to drive a family mini van at 9 years old! These days she and her mentor father dream of her one day racing in an Indy 500.

In 2012 she raced her first race with her father’s number #34 and she and her father seem to be looking for sponsors so she can race a full series.

There is some controversy around her with some saying she is playing up her position (her license may be a publically available license that many hobbyists buy!) and the fact that she has a criminal record however she fought back to this people and actually seems pretty down to earth.
